| How to connect to Aardvaak If you are accessing this site from Work and don't have access to the Internet from home then there are two ways of connecting to us when you get home. 1. Download the automatic installer (for Windows PCs) Click on this link and choose to SAVE the file to a floppy disk. When you get home, start up your PC and insert the floppy disk. Find the file called signup.ins (or just signup) on the floppy and double click it. This will configure a dialup account called AARDVAAK GUEST on your computer. Find the AARDVAAK GUEST icon in Dialup Networking and double click it to connect to our service. You should then open up Windows Explorer and when our page has loaded use the Sign Up button to create your own Internet Account with us which includes your own unique email address. At the end of the signup process you will see an automatic setup button. Click this and save the file to your hard drive - then find it and double click it. This will then configure your email address in Outlook Express for you. 2. Manually Configure (Windows XP) (Windows 98 instructions) (Mac OSX here) Start up your laptop and plug the modem into the telephone
wall socket The only issue might be that it also asks you to select your modem part way through this but that should be self-explanatory. You should now have Internet access setup - you can now open up your Web Browser and visit http://www.aardvaak.net Click on the Signup link and fill in the form to create your own account with EMail and Webspace etc. After successful signup you will see a button labelled AUTO CONFIGURE - click this and SAVE it to your PC. Then locate the file and double click on it to run it and configure your Internet connection. Save the file to a floppy disk for safe keeping in case you lose your settings (disk reformat etc) in the future. For other Operating Systems create a new dialup connection to 0845 662 1009 using a username of guest@smartemail.co.uk and a password of guest. Set the IP address, Gateway and DNS servers to 'Automatically assigned' (DHCP) and you will then be able to connect. | ||||||||||||||
